Climate change has come to our door step with willingly or unwillingly. The recent predictions of the sea level rise increase and the melting of glacier indicate a grim picture for the future of South Asian region. Already South Asia has been identified as more vulnerable region for the climate change. not only agriculture, but the existence of human being would be under threat. though in Sri Lanka, now we can be happy about the diminishing picture of war refugees, sooner or later we may need to see the possibility of increasing climate refugees and how to work cope with climate related unrest among people. Here what need to study mainly is the how water behave around us. It is high time to revert back to traditional knowledge.
the key areas we need to study first would be dry zone areas, where major irrigation systems are not available and mountain areas, where limited water resources are available. Mountain areas would be the most vulnerable for water scarcity in some climatic zones. A discussion is needed to lessen the climate related catastrophe in Sri Lanka.
